86: IMPROV AND SLAM POETRY AS ART

KDOI Rebroadcast of interview with Ramon Charriez

Hello friend, this is Timothy Kimo Brien your head instigator at Create Art Podcast where I bring my 20 years in art and education to help you tame your inner critic and create more than you consume. In 2021 I am rebroadcasting my former podcast KDOI Podcast here so you can catch up on what we have been doing for the past 4 years. KDOI Podcast was my first serious attempt at podcasting after spending many years just creating content without regard to the final product. KDOI started in 2016 and had 3 seasons until I closed it down in 2019. I wanted to make sure that these gems didn’t get relegated to my external hard drives, so here you go, there will be interviews, commentary, and projects that you can do for yourself. Enjoy these rebroadcasts and Create More Than You Consume.

Improv and Slam Poetry as Art

Ramon discusses the beginnings of Salsation Theater Company and their offerings at the time of this interview. We also discuss Word Up, our collaboration that produced a poetry reading combined with an improv contest that toured around the Chicagoland area for 2 years. Also discussed was our first paring with Salsa Sketch, a show that was created in 10 hours and performed in front of a live audience as a fundraiser for Salsation. Ramon discusses his entry into improv in high school and the effect it had on him.

Ramon took the Satanic Seven Question test and scored 6.5 points out of 7 points.
